The Offseason Begins

Well its the beginning of another busy off season for the boys in pinstripes. Many players are free agents this off season beginning with three of the core four. Derek Jeter is where we will start. Derek is one of the all time greats in baseball history. In my opinion the greatest shortstop of all time with no disrespect to the great Ozzie Smith. I really do hope they bring him back for a couple of more years. He deserves a better send off then the worst season of his career. Next is Mariano Rivera the greatest postseason closer in the history of the game. I hope nothing dramatic comes out of this like a 4 or 5 year deal because that would be stupid. So I am looking at one year with and option depending on how he pitches next year, and that option so maybe he will catch Hoffman for the most saves all time. Last is good ole Andy Pettitte. I don't see Andy coming back next year. Earlier in the season he did say he wanted to pitch one more season, but with lingering injuries towards the end of the season one can only begin to think he is done. There are going to be several other key players up for free agency such as Joba Chamberlin and Brett Gardner just to name a couple. I can say that Marcus Thames, Lance Berkman, Austin Kearns, and Javier Vazquez are gone though. The coaching staff will remain intact as Brian Cashman made a bonehead move today and fired Dave Eiland. I couldn't believe this news I am very disappointed, but I guess someone had to take a fall for the postseason whether Cashman says so or not. The Yankees will make the mistake of bringing of Joe Girardi. His I have a base, bat, and baseball shoved up my ass approach doesn't work for me or the team. Sir you are not Billy Martin quit acting like it. I am hoping that firing Eiland is the only mistake that Cashman makes. Big moves are coming be prepared and hold on because this is going to be one crazy ride.
